Optex is primarily focused on the Power Operated Pedestrian Door and Industrial Automatic Door markets. Optex is a member of the American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (AAADM) and provides AAADM Certified Inspector training to industry professionals.

Technical Support Representative
Job Description:
Provide technical support via phone and on site for Optex product line (primarily sensors for automatic doors) for servicing dealers and automatic door manufacturers. Perform product training seminars both internally to staff and externally to servicing dealers and automatic door manufacturers (requires approximately 35 % travel).
Responsibilities:
Provide phone, and onsite, technical support. This will include advice on Industry Standards, general application questions and troubleshooting of Optex product line.
Properly document all technical calls in the Tech Call database.
Generate return authorizations as necessary.
Create wiring diagrams and product support documents as needed thru various software programs.
Hold product training seminars covering features, installation, adjustments and troubleshooting of product line.
Upon returning from a dealer visit, provide Dealer Visit Reports to the appropriate personnel in a timely manor.
Become certified to instruct AAADM Inspector Certification classes. Hold these seminars several times annually.
Perform internal training on power operated pedestrian doors, Optex product line and competitive products.
Perform other duties as required.
Base Requirements:
Associates Degree Basic Electricity & Electronics (equivalent experience)
One year experience in troubleshooting electrical/electronic equipment failures.
Demonstrate the ability to use electrical test equipment (primarily digital multi-meter).
Demonstrate the ability to diagnose electrical failures (opens & shorts), electro-mechanical and mechanical parts failures.
Have the ability to speak comfortably in front of large groups.
Computer proficiency with Windows, Word, Excel and Windows Explorer. Familiarity with database software fundamentals.
Knowledge of Infra-red technologies, Doppler Radar and Relay Logic/Terminology a plus.
Knowledge of and/or experience in the Power Operated Pedestrian Door industry a plus.
